best way to upgrade

Web Design at Sonos

My 10-Week internship on Sonos.com team explored how designs get made from idea to fruition — through the lens of their brand Brilliant Sound.

I focused on the Sonos.com Checkout Redesign Phase I & II, new product introduction elements, and more. I learned to explore design within the realms of data dependency and think outside the box with creative solutions. More to come as it gets published…

My roles included: Web UX Designer, UX Researcher, Marketing Design

Project One: Sonos Cart & Checkout

This is one of a few screens that show the quick solutions the checkout team put together to better the experience for the thousands of users that use the checkout platform — they were implemented within a few weeks of my original designs. In Phase II, I expanded upon a redesign developed by the design agency Instrument from 16 to 32 screens. As this work is in development, I cannot show mocks. However I am always open to sharing the experience over the phone with you.

Project Two: Trade Up

Trade up is a new program dedicated to upcycling old Sonos models with the newer ones. I worked on this project in conjunction with many different stakeholders such as a Director in the Brand Design, CRM, and UX.

My roles were to polish the mocks, deliver to the developer team, and discuss how best to deliver this new service with the right wording and sequencing.

I left as it was entering the research and development phase, however, little design changes were made on the consumer site.

Project Three: Product Marketing Design

Sonos released three new products in September 2019. Along with other UX designers, I worked on webpage elements for the new speaker and charging base. Click the links to see them live. I delivered both desktop and mobile mocks for the dev team via Sketch and Zeplin.

I also worked on the design for CRM messages to customers who recently purchased the Move. To the right is my favorite piece I did for them.

Project Four: Hack-a-thon!

I joined Hack Week at Sonos on a last-minute whim after talking with some of the developers in a meeting. Their idea was to gamify listening on your speaker to earn badges that would lead to prizes, such as a t-shirt. The work I did for them included mocking up a new module in 'My Account' on the website and showing the experience of gaining badges. It was a great way to get involved in something silly and fun for the company!

…and I had the best time!

Some of my best projects are still under NDA, however, I would love to share the broad strokes and some sketches in an interview. Contact me if you’re interested.
